Craft Ideas to Make With Tree Coloring Sheets

Unlock the wonders of nature and creativity with our craft ideas using trees coloring pages. These activities blend fun and learning perfectly, allowing kids of all ages to celebrate nature’s beauty. Let’s bring the outdoors in and create something magical with these beautiful tree designs!

1. Potting with Paper

Decorate plant pots with colored tree pages to add color to your home or garden. Select a coloring page with illustrations of fruit trees and color them in your favorite colors. Cut the colored page to fit around your plant pot and glue it in place with Mod Podge. Apply a final layer on top to seal and protect the design.  Plant pretty flowers, such as daisies, tulips, roses, or tropical Hawaiian flowers. Or, if it’s a large pot, plant a tree sapling.  This decorated pot is perfect for National Tree Day in July, brightening any indoor or outdoor space.

2. Greetings from the Grove

Create a pop-up greeting card to surprise a friend or loved one. Print pictures that feature your favorite types of trees at 50% scale. Color the illustrations and carefully cut along the outlines of several trees. Leave a tab at the bottom of each one and use this to make a small accordion fold. Fold a piece of cardstock in half to create the card base. Then, glue the accordion part of the trees inside so they pop up when opened.  Write a heartfelt message inside the greeting card and give it to a nature-lover for their birthday.

3. Scrapbook of Seasons

Make a nature-inspired scrapbook to preserve your memories. Color several of our free printables displaying various species of trees. Choose your favorite design and glue this to the front cover of a scrapbook. Fill the book with photos, captions, stickers, and handwritten notes. Use the other colored pages as backgrounds and accents for your special scrapbook.

4. Lifecycle in Layers

Craft an interactive display to teach children the stages of a tree’s life, from seedling to mature tree. Choose free printable tree coloring pages that illustrate each stage of a tree’s growth. Color each page and arrange them in a circle on a bulletin board. Cut out arrows from cardstock to show the direction of change. Add fun facts and photos to the artwork. This display is a powerful tool for Schools Tree Day, educating children about the lifecycle of trees.

5. Calendar of Canopies

Design a seasonal calendar that shows the changing beauty of trees throughout the year and important dates like National Love a Tree Day in May. Print twelve different tree coloring sheets on cardstock, including deciduous tree and evergreen tree drawings to represent different months. Fill in each page to highlight the seasonal changes in color and foliage. Bind the pages together at the top using paper fasteners and add a hook for hanging. Plan your year in style with a little help from Mother Nature.

6. Chimes of Change

Turn a gentle breeze into a symphony of relaxation with a tree-themed wind chime. Complete printable pages featuring maple or other deciduous tree leaves. Cut out the colored outlines and punch a hole at the top and bottom of each one.  Thread a ribbon through the top and attach a small jingle bell to the bottom. Make a small hoop out of a metal clothes hanger or wire. Attach the cutouts to the ring. Add feathers, beads, and charms for extra decoration.  Hang your wind chime near a window or porch to catch the breeze, creating a calming ambiance for mindfulness and meditation.

7. Botanical Book

Assemble a tree care guide to share knowledge on nurturing our leafy friends. Choose a coloring page collection that includes many types of trees, from delicate cherry blossoms to Christmas trees. Write essential care tips for each type of tree on the back of the designs. Compile the pages into a booklet and add sections on watering, planting, and protecting trees. Include a front cover filled with beautiful shades and staple the pages together. This guide offers practical advice on tree care and fosters a deeper appreciation for nature.

8. Learning Leaves

Create an educational matching game to help kids learn about different species of trees. Print drawings of different types of trees at 25% scale. Print two copies of each design. Color each illustration using different colors and trim. Write the species name at the bottom.  Laminate the cards for durability. Mix up the cards and challenge your friends to see who can find the most pairs!

9. Nature Trail of Timber

Design an adventure trail for outdoor exploration with your friends. Complete one of your favorite fall tree coloring pages.  Use a marker to draw a trail of your local park or garden on top of the colored page. Add an “X” to mark the spot for locations with different trees and other features like flowers and ponds.  Complete the trail with family or friends for quality time spent outdoors.

10. Nature’s Notebook

Craft a unique notebook cover to display your love for trees. Choose a simple tree coloring page and fill it with different shades. (Print designs at 50% for A5-sized notebooks.) Glue the coloring page onto the cover and use markers to write your name on the front. Use your personalized notebook for jotting down thoughts or sketching under the shade of your favorite tree.
